Conjunto!Evite - Quebra Ossos
“Quebra Ossos” is the first single from Conjunto!Evite’s LP “Penso Logo Desisto”. It’s a song about overcoming obstacles, and pushing through in the face of adversity.
The band gave me narrative freedom, and the deadline was fairly good, so I managed to do what I wanted without sacrificing too much of what I initially proposed.
I was responsible for the full production of the music video, from narrative, through 3d animation, to final edit.
CONCEPT
“Como uma corda sobre o Abismo” / “Like a rope over the Abyss” - these are the chorus lyrics. They took center stage and were an image that I wanted to have on the music video - a character walking a tightrope between two cliffs.
The two cliffs then became “Present” versus “Future”. The first being confusion and distress, and the second being hopeful clearance and bliss.
I found this in some notes I kept while working on this project:
“Look, this is all very confusing, and you may lose track of who you are. You may scare and hurt yourself, so you should leave. And when you do, you’ll leave some part of yourself behind. Good thing is: There are no ghosts in the future”.
TECHNIQUE
Full 3d pipeline in Cinema4d.
Zbrush for the hand model, Arnold for rendering.
Experimented with a “First Person View” aesthetic, rigging the camera and the arms together in a way that would mimic human movement. Initial experiments with Cappucino to “record” the music video in real-time and give it a videogame/VR feeling were discarded due to some limitations (such as recording a 180º turn).
